Nested Folders based on Object Relationships Test Drive
In this test drive, we explore how CloudFiles can create nested folder structures that mirror the object relationship in your Salesforce. For instance, the opportunity folders can be created inside the account folder.
Follow the instructions in the next section to test. The subsequent sections explain the setup for this test drive as well as what else is possible as an extension of this test drive.
To test out this feature, follow the simple instructions below :
- Go to 'Accounts' tab and create a new account. You will see a folder in the 'Files' tab of the account record.
- Go to 'Opportunities' tab and create a new Opportunity. Choose the account as the one we created in the last step.
- Check out the automatically created Opportunity Folder in the 'Files' tab of the opportunity record.
- Head back to the account record. You will notice that the above folder got created inside the 'Opportunities' sub-folder of the account.

Flow execution and folder creation may take some time (a few seconds to a minute). If you don't see anything in the Files Tab, try refreshing the CloudFiles widget a couple times.
The GIF below gives a visual representation of these steps.
The following video shows the flow that made this possible.
In this test drive, we've explored how CloudFiles creates nested folders based on object relationships. However, there are many variations of this possible such that it can fit your custom use-case. Check the pointers below -
- We have shown a simple two-level hierarchy. However this can be as complex as you need it to be and can even include custom objects. E.g. you can implement a four-level hierarchy between Accounts, Opportunities, Contacts and Projects.
- Beside nested folders, you can also use other methods such as creating static sub-folders or using a template folder which is cloned. These are explained in other test drives.
- It's possible to move folders as well. So for example, a folder can be created for a lead, and then moved inside the account folder later on when the lead is converted.
