Export Analytics to Excel File

CloudFiles provides insightful analytics for your documents using secure links. These analytics can be viewed on the analytics dashboard of CloudFiles. However, if you are a Marketing professional you will most probably get a lot of views on your documents from various sources.

This data will require more detailed analysis on your end to get fruitful results to understand which channels are working the best. This could be analyzing no. of downloads vs no. of views on your file or other permutations as per your business requirement.

To perform these next level file analytics you will need to download the file analytics as an excel file and do simple manipulations in it. In this article we show how the analytics can be exported and what all details are exported by the app.

Exporting Analytics

To download the analytics of your files and share with your teams, you can simply head over to Link Settings screen and click on the export button. Follow the simple steps below -

  1. Navigate to the content library
  2. Head over the content library and access the file whose link you wish to analyze. Click on the link and access the link settings.
  3. Click on Go to analytics and on the next page, select export analytics.
  4. This will download the analytics of the secure link shared with your recipients.

Exported Analytics

The exported file contains the information in the following format as excel columns. You can check our detailed guide on the tracking metrics to know more about these terms. If the file was replaced after being made into a link, the exported analytics file will show the analytics from the different versions.

Export Older Version Analytics

When exporting analytics of a file, CloudFiles by default exports analytics of all the previous versions of the file. This means that if you have updated and replaced the file in the past, CloudFiles even export analytics collected on those versions.

The CloudFiles Export file will consists of multiple sheets with the version name as the sheet name. You can use these sheets to access and consolidate all of your analytics. The image below shows one such exported file with many versions.
