Release Frequency and Types of Updates

CloudFiles is built on a philosophy of rapid improvement. We release new versions of the app every week, ensuring that progress is steady and visible. This approach allows us to deliver value quickly, address customer feedback promptly, and keep our platform aligned with the evolving needs of Salesforce users.

The changes in each release typically include:

  • New Features – additions that expand the capabilities of Document Management, Document Generation, and Document AI.
  • Enhancements – refinements to existing features for greater usability, flexibility, or efficiency.
  • Bug Fixes – resolutions to issues that improve stability and reliability.
  • Security Patches – updates that strengthen protection of data and compliance with evolving standards.
  • Performance Optimizations – improvements to make the apps faster and more efficient at scale.

Testing and Stability

At CloudFiles, speed of delivery never comes at the cost of quality. Every version goes through several layers of testing before it reaches our customers. We rely on a mix of automated checks, detailed integration tests to make sure CloudFiles works smoothly with Salesforce and connected systems, and hands-on testing that mirrors real-world usage.

A special focus is placed on backward compatibility. We know our customers depend on CloudFiles as part of their day-to-day workflows, so updates are designed to work seamlessly with existing configurations. Our team makes sure that new versions respect your current setup, so features you already rely on continue to function just as expected.

By the time an update is rolled out, it has been reviewed, tested, and verified to be stable in production. This process gives us the confidence that every release, while frequent, is reliable and ready for immediate use.

Deployment and Upgrade Policy

CloudFiles provides 2 deployment tracks - Rolling and Stable. By default, every CloudFiles customer is on the Rolling track and is upgraded automatically. While new versions of the app are built and released on a weekly basis, these changes are grouped together and deployed to Rolling-track organizations at regular monthly intervals. This approach provides the best of both worlds: you gain the benefits of rapid innovation and new functionality, but the updates are packaged into scheduled, thoroughly tested releases. These upgrades happen in the background and require no effort from administrators or end users. There is no downtime, no configuration to redo, and no risk of missing out on improvements. By the time an update reaches your organization, it has already been tested to work seamlessly with Salesforce and with your existing CloudFiles setup.

Organizations that need a predictable testing window before changes reach production can move to the Stable track instead. On Stable, releases follow a quarterly cadence rather than a monthly one: each release goes to sandboxes first, then to production after a testing window, giving admins time to validate changes before they go live.

Can I opt out of auto-upgrades?

On the Rolling track, which is the default for every organization, opting out of upgrades isn't possible. CloudFiles enforces automatic upgrades so every organization on this track always runs on the most current and supported version of the platform. This policy is designed to protect and support customers in several key ways. First, it ensures that critical security patches are applied immediately and universally, keeping your data protected without requiring manual action. Second, it guarantees compatibility with Salesforce and other connected platforms, so your workflows continue running smoothly without interruptions caused by older or unsupported versions. Finally, having customers on a consistent, current version simplifies support and troubleshooting, which allows for faster response times and more reliable issue resolution.
